Adding Bleed to Artwork for Print and Why it’s Needed

If the design you are supplying to us contains an image or text that continues off the edge of the page, we will require bleed added to the files you supply.

Bleed is simply a continuation of the printed area past the trimmed edge, 3mm all round is the industry standard. Without bleed, when cutting down your printed job a white edge can appear due to small unavoidable movements on the guillotine and in the paper stack being cut.

It is also advisable not to have any text close to the trim edge for the same reason. 3mm is a minimum but 5mm is advisable.

If you would like to talk to anyone about your job or the files you plan to supply please feel free to contact us.
